ACTIVITIES: Demonstration of compost utilisation
 
The compost produced with Maccarese green waste was tested on demonstrative fields of 4 farms representative of the different local typologies, comparing for three years plots fertilised:

a) only with compost (COMP);

b) with half compost, half chemical (50/50);

c) only with chemical fertiliser (MIN).
 
The trials have been monitored weekly in the three treatments
(COM, 50/50, MIN) to estimate growth and pathologies.

At the end of the growth, data were collected on fruits and biomass on fresh and dry weight.

On some cultures were taken analyses on ground cover assessment and harvest quality.
 
In the whole in three years were cultivated 32 hectares with cabbage, cauliflower, fennel, salad, tomato, melon (in field and greenhouse),
zucchini (in field and greenhouse), eggplant (in greenhouse) pepper
(in greenhouse), carrot, watermelon, artichoke and grapes.
