Fertilife approaches sustainability in agriculture through a methodology that considers all the stakeholders of the scene.
The aim is to demonstrate that in an highly intensive agricultural area rich of natural values, as Maccarese – Torrimpietra, agriculture fields could be fertilised recycling green waste produced inside the area in compost.
Green waste and by-products are recycled in compost
through aerobic fermentation.
Compost is spread out on the fields to fertilise
and grow vegetable crops.
Vegetables are processed and packed:green waste
and by products are obtained.
Fertilife’s
is carried out in Maccarese -Torrimpietra, a basin of 8000 Ha
extension, partially into the Natural State Reserve of the Roman
Littoral, about 30 Km from Rome, it is one of the principal
horticultural growing area.
Fertilife's approach to the problem of sustainable fertilisation
in agriculture considers all the stakeholders of the scene:
producers: door to door analysis of green
waste;
environmental operators: green waste composting;
farmers: demonstration of compost utilisation;
traders: sale of produce cultivated with
compost;
consumers:
awareness and divulgation; environment decision makers:
cost-benefits evaluation.
